LG GSA-4040B not even reading DVDs...

Postby Bon Scott on Thu Dec 04, 2003 10:32 pm

Hi there...

I just bought the LG GSA-4040B (A300 firmware) and I've been reading and writing CDRs/RWs for a week...

Now, I finally bought some DVD-Rs to try it but no software can recognize the DVD discs... I tried other OS, different cables, master/slave configuration, reading it in DOS mode, installed the drive on other computer, etc. and even ORIGINAL DVD-Videos won't be read by the drive... When I put the disc into it, the disc starts spinnig and suddenly stops and it won't go any further after then... I've tried with 5 different DVD-Videos, DVD-Rs, DVD-RAM with no success...

I just can read/write CDs... :(

Any ideas from you guys are welcome... Any possible solution or should I RMA this drive as soon as possible???

Thanks!

well, for one thing don't update to the latest A301 firmware!
the MORONS at LG have this stupid policy - if you ruin the drive while updating firmware it's not covered by the warranty.

sounds like you pretty much tried any reasonable thing...i suggest you RMA it.
