LG GSA-4040B issue while burning CDR.

Heya peepz.

i bought this new lg 4040b drive last week. so far ive quite satisfied with
it. recently im having problems burning regular CDRS with it. i know its
a DVDR but from time to time, i have the need to burn a cdr...

when i use nero (6.0.0.15), i always get the msg that my disc is not
big enuff to fit the compilation. it even occurs when im trying to burn
a 600mb file (divx) into a 700mb cd (memorex x48).

when using another programs (easy cdcreator 6 / bh's burning prog)
it crashes down when it reaches approx 60-80% of the procces. also
while burning it constantly slows down until it fails.

on the other hand, while burning DVD's it works perfectly. so far ive
burned dvd-r and dvd+rw ---> works fine. it seems the issue is only with
cdrs...

im using a p4 2.4ghz / 512 ddr 333mhz. 2 60gb seagate hdd so data flow
issues. im using winxp pro and recently flashed the drive firmware to a300.

help ne1?

This is a well-documented problem with Nero 6.0.0.15 and Nero 5.5.10.50. Just downgrade to Nero 6.0.0.11 until Ahead fixes this problem.

Unfortunately, I don't understand why the other programs crash; I'd recommend that you make sure they have the latest updates if you haven't already.

1st of all i want to say now im relax.ed... i was afraid its my drive's
issue... if you say its nero... im relaxed...

still... its wierd... the other programs crash... then again..
it might be due to drivers and so on... i did manage to burn an
iso file now, using alcohol soft 120%.

it went very slowly, but eventually it did... at like x6...
13 mins... while the drive said it can write x24 on that media...

i assume all the proggies are not acustom for dvdr drives being used
to burn cdrs... and that's the issue...

i heard nero 6.0.0.11 has a problem with dvd-video... that's why i
upgraded in the 1st place... so bascily i need to wait for a new update...

i rarely use the cd's burning, but i do need to have the
option... and the drive is working with dvd-r/+r so its not
a malfunction.

can you plz refer me to more info on this issue?

Are you using the latest firmware? I have flashed mine to the latest which is A300 and it works fine for me.

I just burned a bin/cue iso and it went at the full 24x. I have also burned some divX with no speed problems either.

Both burns using Nero 6.0.0.15 on Princo 48x media.

yes im using a300 firmware also...

i can live with slow iso burning... since i rarely
burn isos...

the drag and drop bug on nero is the one
that bugs me...
