Good media to buy?

Postby EAX on Sun Dec 28, 2003 8:57 am

I recently purchased a dvd rw nu drive 8X, but I haven't ran across any media that supports that speed. Does the Ritek media support 8X? If it does can someone direct me to a site in the states to purchase? I am also looking for reasonable rw media as well. Also, does the speed listed on +rw media mean it will only burn up to that speed? I have heard 4X disks can be burned at 8X? Does that concept apply to rw media that is 2.4?

Thanks,

EAX

Great site btw. I read the review of my drive before making a decision in buying it. This drive seems to be ultra-quiet and very effective at its task. The only downside I have run across is it can sometimes be too sensitive with regular dvds.

Use your dvd-rom to watch and rip regualr dvd's.Remember RW on both sides of the table(cd or dvd)doesn't burn or write very fast.I use Fuji DVD + RW and they burn at 2.4x.Don't know if they'll ever come out with "High Speed" RW media for dvd's.I've read that MCC media can be written with that model at 8x but be careful, they say around the edges is where they have probs.Try out this link,it has a few for ya.

I have burned my 4X +RW Memorex disks using the Plextor 708A at the full 4X and they have been readable by my apex 1225 DVD player.

I wouldn't call 4x speed "high" speed but for DVD+RW it's fine.Like I've said in previous posts,I'm in no hurry. :D

Thanks for the link, I will bookmark it. So far, I have purchased Memorex 4X rw, and it works fine. I will check on the 8X Ritek media as well.
