LG GCC-4320B... Help Me Rhonda

Postby mark kirk on Wed Jan 01, 2003 10:28 am

I'm having a difficult problem (for me anyway) in the Property Settings of my LG GCC-4320B CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive'... that being although I have both 'Disconnect' and 'Auto Insert Notification' toggled, whenever I insert a disc into the drive it automatically switches the 'Disconnect' off.
I'm using Roxio's 'Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum' (with the most recent upgrade from the Roxio site) and after contacting Roxio yesterday was given instructions on how to perform a complete uninstall / re-install, which I've done a number of times to no avail.
This leads me to believe the problem lies somewhere in the settings of the drive itself. I've removed any ghost drives while I had Windows 98 in Safe Mode, and now I seem to be at an impasse.
Anyone out there have a "so obvious it's staring me right in the face" solution?
Thank you for any help...

Why are you enabling Disconnect in the first place?

That's what the program (Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum) advises to do... does this sound unusual?
You see, without Disconnect enabled the program won't acknowledge that there's a music cd in the drive. I've just uninstalled everything (the program AND the drive), and this time I tried a disc without the ECDC Platinum installed and the drive DID play the cd, without automatically disabling Disconnect - so I'm thinking the problem lies somewhere in the software after all, not with the drive.
I'm just about to re-install the software again and see what happens this time...

Is the disconnect thing your only problem? Does the software work for you? Please give us more info.

Okay - here's the details...
When I reboot the computer this notice pops up from Direct CD 5.3.2.34:
"At least one of the supported drives has the AUTO INSERT NOTIFICATION or DISCONNECT OPTION disabled.
We highly recommend you enable these options to make sure your drives function properly."
It then asks:
"Do you want us to enable these options for all your drives and restart your system?"
Whether I choose this option or do it myself (Settings / Control Panel / System / Device Manager - then choosing the drive in question -Properties / Settings and enabling the requested options), the result is the same... when I attempt to use the software the tracks are not recognized as audio files (for a few seconds the disc itself is recognized as a music cd, then - I asume when the Disconnect Option is automatically disabled - it no longer recognizes the disc in the D drive.
I'll tell ya, it's driving me 'round the bend!

(I hope this makes some sort of sense)
