Other than cookies, what can the problem be? I've tried guiding her through enabling cookies but it wont work. she can get into msn messenger but not hotmail. I wasnt sure where to put this, I dont know if it is a Hardware or a software problem since I cant look at the computer.

It's a software miss-configuratioin problem. Maybe by mistake she set a security level for hotmail that doesn't accepts cookies. If she is unable to set back these settings tell her to download this browser:

http://download.com.com/redir?pid=10207698&merid=109407&mfgid=109407&edId=3&siteId=4&oId=3002-20-10207698&ontId=20<ype=dl_dlnow&lop=link&destUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.qwerks.com%2Fdownload%2F5337%2Fabsetup.exe

Is only 949KB it should download in just 3 minutes, it comes with the cookies enabled. If that still doesn't work download mozilla:

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-win32-installer.exe

You can also tell her to open the IE --> HELP --> INDEX, then type cookies. She will get help about cookies including how to enable them.
Still burning with my LTR-16101B.

I just had a better thought; could Active Scripting be disabled? I have found that hotmail doesn't work right when Active Scripting isn't enabled.

In IE6, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security-> Custom. There will be a list of options, and make sure Active Scripting is enabled.

I had the same problem when I built a new computer and couldnt get into my hotmail account. I messed with all the settings with Internet Explorer and still couldnt log on.

Then I noticed that my PC's clock had the wrong time zone, date and time. After I set it correctly and rebooted Windows 98SE I was able to log onto Hotmail and MSN fine! I guess MSN uses your PC's date/time for cookies, if its incorrect it wont let you in. Hope this helps ya out!

Wierd...

I noticed that recently, Hotmail changed the way that the login works. It used to be that if your e-mail address was "hotmailuser@hotmail.com", you would type "hotmailuser" as your login. They now requre you to type "hotmailuser@hotmail.com" as your login. Could that possibly be the problem?
