File size increasing

Postby markbonsai on Mon May 14, 2007 6:57 pm

Hope someone out there can help me with this one. I'm using Nero Vision in Nero 7 to write a DVD with four episodes of a TV show. They are already converted to DVD format, ie. vob, video TS, etc, and each is well under a gb. However, when I come to add them into my project, Nero says they're over a gb each and won't fit them onto a standard DVD. It's also taking 3-4 hours to transcode and write the disc. I've never had this problem before and it's only recently started to occur.

Anybody got any ideas as it's driving me nuts! #-o

Hi Markbonsai,

What version of our Nero 7 software do you have on your system? Do you have Nero 7.8.5.0, which comes with Nero Vision 4.9.5.7?

Our software has a feature called SmartEncoding, and if the source file is MPEG-2 compliant, it should not reencode as you are describing. IT should only be encoding the Menu, and any part of the video you may have added Text or Video effects, and transitions.

When you are in the final burn window, what percentage does it report as compliant? It should report 100% compliant. As you can see from the JPEG file I have attached, I selected a WMV video file, and it reports the audio and video as being 0% compliant, so it has to re-encode both completely.

If it has to re-encode the source file, this would explain the difference in size and the long encode time.

Regards,

Craig
