Express Vision 2 - Slideshow quality

I'm using the demoversion of Nero EV2 and trying to create a VCD slideshow. While the interface was fairly intuitive, the resulting quality was fair at best. This compares to using Photosuite 5's built-in slideshow generator with the same pics in which the resulting VCD's quality was very good to excellent.

Have I missed a setting somewhere? Why is Nero compressing the pictures so much?

I'd like to use Nero, as Photosuite does not have transitions and allows for only one background song.

Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Separately, are there any help files for this program? I have the user guides, but no HLP files.

Surely there must be someone out there who has tried to make a slideshow. Why is my quality so poor?
