DVD-RAM and Lightscribe media questions

Postby Matrix3 on Tue Nov 13, 2007 4:15 am

I bought last week Optiarc AD7191A burner that supports 12X DVD-RAM and Lightscribe burning so I would like to know following:

1. Can my burner use dual layer DVD-RAM 9.4GB?
2. Do I need disc or cartridge DVD-RAM media?
3. Amazon stocks Verbatim Lightscribe media but it doesn't say anything about speed. Are they 16x?

The 9.4GB DVD-RAM media is double sided. Not double layer.

The Optiarc AD7191A does not support DVD-RAM media in cartridges. However, you can usually take the discs out of the cartridge.

I'm not sure what speed those Verbatim discs are rated at. Looking at the picture, I'd say they're the older 8x discs. If you get a chance, get the newer v1.2 discs. They support faster LightScribe speeds and are rated at 16x.
