Double-Sided Media (9.4GB) -- available???

Postby dmbfan36_23 on Tue Nov 05, 2002 4:40 pm

Is there any double-sided DVD-R or DVD+R media available yet? -- brands? retailers?

As Ian said, check:

http://www.hypermicro.com/store/index.htm

for the media and:

http://www.storagereview.com

for info on free shipping.

The media is ridiculously expensive though, though it is Verbatim, but unless you really need to save storage space or something, I wouldn't even consider DS DVD-R media... You'll be paying 55% more per GB of storage space...

Philips announced double sided dvd+rw discs:

but I've yet to see them for sale.

Is "double sided" meant the same here as "dual layer"? Is there a way to burn a dual layer (9.4 Gig) DVD as the movie studios do?
