Does size matter?

Postby Kizz on Sat Apr 03, 2004 12:27 am

:)

I am curious as to what pixel size to burn a DVD. before I get to far, I don't even have a burner yet, but I noticed when I transferred about 15 minutes of D8 tape from my Camcorder, the software asked me what size I wanted to save it to. I "think" I saved it in 720X720 (?)... It ended up being a 2.07 GB movie for only 15 minutes.

So what is the correct size to save a movie to? I want to be able to fit a full hour of video on a DVD, or is this impossible?

Thanks

hi

720*576 for PAL ,720*480 for NTSC also the bit rate factor effects the size very much,i had purchased the SUPERBIT edition of the movie ANACONDA it had a bitrate of 9.8mbps on YAMAHA 2300 dvd player, although it was a stunning experience to watch and hear but there was no space left on the disc for any special features.

dvd can have a bit rate of 1 to 10 mbps, you can also fit 2 hrs or more footage in a single disc by reducing the bitrate but the video quality will also suffer.

OK, that makes sense. I thought there had to be a way to get more than 15 minutes of tape on a DVD. Thanks!

I normally record my videos at 720x480 resolution at 4mbps. This allows me to store about 2hrs of video (and stereo audio) on a 4.7GB (re)writable disk.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...
