difference between cd-r materials?

whats the difference between the materials that cd-r's are made out of, i know theres different types but i'm not sure which ones are good

Generally speaking, it's not so much the materials used that make a good disc, but HOW the materials are used...

You can get the same exact stuff Taiyo Yuden uses to make their discs, and give it to a chinese CD-R manufacturer, and watch them make crap not worthy of guarding a table from a cola can :lol:
Punch Cards -> Paper Tape -> Tape Drive -> 8" Floppy Diskette -> 5 1/4" Floppy Diskette -> 3 1/2" "Flippy" Diskette -> CD-R -> DVD±R -> BD-R

What if Taiyo Yuden someday have Chinese manufacturers produce their CD-R and DVD+R/-R media? :D
