Copying DVD shrinked movies on to Taiyon Yuden

Postby pigdog on Sun Oct 03, 2004 6:55 pm

I have several backed up DVDs on Ritek DVD-R that often freeze on my Phillips Player. The work oK on my PC but not my player or my girlfriends. They seem to freeze the same point each time.

I think I may have to use the best media I can get my hands on ie Taiyon Yuden. Rather than re-authoring from the orginals can I simply copy the from the burned one (even they freeze) onto the Yudens to hopefully solve my freezing problems. Or would this freezing transfer over to the Yudens?

i think we won't know until you try.

if it works OK and no freezing, then it was a media problem.

if not, then probably something is wrong with the files (bad authoring?) and you need to re-author.

Yeah true !

Bad authoring..mmm...All im doing re-autthoring is the only and hiding the subpicture. If I try re-authering again by doing the exact same thing as last why would this time be any different. How do I know if its the re-authoring thats and what would i need to do differently. for a program that supposed to be relatively easy to which it is, its certainly making me question, like said, its in the re-authroing that is casuing the problem.

My guess the problem is the player,it might have problems with layer breaks or chapter points.
Have you tried the disc in another player?
What programs are you using to copy and burn?

Before buying new discs try making an ISO file with DVDShrink and burn with DVDDecrypter.
Also check the bad discs with CDSpeed using ScanDisc and Disc Quality Test.
Some cheap media have a problem when you go over 4400MB,try Custom size and use Deep Analysis.
