My city to become first in country with solar-powered WiFi

Postby aviationwiz on Mon Nov 13, 2006 6:07 pm

Just thought I'd post it here that my city (St. Louis Park, MN) is going to become the first in the nation with a solar-powered, city-wide WiFi network:

What happens when its cloudy? You have to use dialup?

I've never been a big fan of city run WiFi projects. Politicians and tech don't ever seem to mix well.

I remember reading in the city newspaper a few weeks ago when they were considering going solar powered, that each station would be hooked up to a battery that would be able to store enough electricity to run for like a week or something, though I'm not sure on that one week figure.
