Can reading one track all night over and over damage a CD dr

Postby audiodrome on Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:59 pm

I'm asking this because I just got a brand new CDRW drive and I want to make sure that I'm not putting too much wear and tear on it. As I mentioned in another post I've been having trouble copying a bunch of CDRs, so I've been trying different methods of extraction with EAC to try and salvage the audio.

Last night I put it into copy mode and went to bed - when I woke up, the drive had been reading/correcting the first track (and only got as far as 15 seconds) for 10 hours!

Could this have caused any undue damage to my drive or is this no more wear and tear than ripping audio all day long?

I wouldn't worry about it.
