BENQ DW1655 - Retail or OEM?

What are the differences on the drive itself? Not the software package.

Someone was talking about the fireware being different. Will I be able to flash it with a retail FW later to get access to more features?

And about the front look, I don't really care, I just need it black.

Well.. looking at the BenQ brand drives, the only real difference right now is the bezel.

If you get a rebranded OEM drive say from I/OMagic, it will most likely have a different firmware. You can get around this though and use the normal BenQ firmware.

I have the io magic oem 1655 you are correct the fw is GCAB and it wont scan past 0.3x on nero speed. The retail one has BCAB fw and scans on nero speed at 8x just fine. Now if someone had BCAB.cvt or BCAB.exe and a cross-flasher i would love to flash my oem with retail fw.
