Is ASUS E616 capable of reading DVD+R?

Has anyone tested if this Asus DVD can read DVD+R? Any other DVD-ROM Reccomendations for DVD-ROM drivers that play DVD+R?

Look in the Reviews section, there are plenty of DVD-ROM drives that have been reviewed and tested with DVD+R media.

I bet the next post will be someone purveying the Lite-On LTD-163, LTD-165, or LTD-166. :P

I was planning on buying the Asus E616 back around April. When I went to their site to read the specs on the E616, they stated that it can read DVD+R discs. About 1 month later when I rechecked it, they removed that line - I don't know what that means. At the time when I did my DVD-Rom drive research - the Asus E616 was the only drive that play all the DVD discs: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD-Video.

Then take your pick, infini, there are quite a few DVD-ROM drives that can read all formats and can be somewhat region free. Either a software tool can make them region free, or you can keep resetting the regions over and over.

I suggest looking at the Reviews section for locating which drives can read all DVD formats. Specifically, look for 16X drives from Lite-On, Toshiba, and the like.

The LG GDR8161b reads all formats, strangely on the front of the box it states "Reads all formats EXCEPT +R" but I can assure you this drive reads all formats.
I write +R on a daily basis (Norton Ghost images) a verify the Images with this drive. I have 5 of them. One of the fastest drives I have come across reading +R's !!
It also reads DVD Ram and all the - Formats.
The ASUS E616 of which I have 3 also reads +R BUT for a ATA100 drive i.m.h.o SUCKS BIG TIME. I HATE THIS UNIT WITH A PASSION. Slow access times, makes funny noises (all 3 of them, manufactured May 2003) and just slow (spin up and reading) TERRIBLE
