Umm, that describes more then 6 types of DVDRs and even more types of CD-Rs... but a simple answer from me would be yes!

I've used Silver/Purple 1x and 4x Ridata DVD-Rs, as well as White Inkjet Printable/Blue 4x Ridata DVD+Rs. I have had very good results with both, however the DVD-Rs don't work so well in my LiteON LDW-411s, but they work VERY well in my friend's Pioneer A04 and Pioneer A05!

The RITEKG04's work fine for me in my Plextor PX-708A. They say RiData on the inside hub cap of the disk.

That's a drive issue, and it must-probably has to do with how you obtained your 4x1. Because if the real LDW-411S can't burn RITEKG04 well, then, what can it burn well? TY, MCC?

That particular LiteON model (the LDW-411s) has problems with DVD-R media in general. I'm sure it will burn T.Y. media better then Ritek, but still not as well as DVD+R media. This has already been talked about ad nauseum. Even Karr Wang let us know before the drive was even released that it had these problems!

Hmm, not a good selling point at all for the 411/451.

The RITEKG04's work fine for me in my Lite-On 411S with no trouble so far, I am susing RITEK G04 with orange cap identified as A3458853 DVD-R 4X. These disks are on sale as pack of 25 for $19.99 in PCClub.

The LDW-451s may work better with DVD-R, since LiteON changed the hardware specs a little. However, that could also mean it may not work with K-Probe too! :-?

A little OT but those orange topped ritek GO4's from pc club work at 4x OK with my new 811 also and it has a 851 counterpart too.
The errors are a little higher but all my players seem to read them just fine.
They will only do 2x with my Sony 500a but the error levels are a bit lower at that speed.

Had you bothered to compare, you would notice that newegg carries the exact same disks at a lower price.

Descriptions of discs according to part number:
the part numbers are

Model DRD-47-4X-RDSM, OEM
$53 for a 50pk @ New Egg
(Ritek 4x DVD-R G04 media, RiData with Silver Matt coating)

and

Model DRD-47-4X-RD-IW, OEM
$55 for a 50pk @ New Egg
(Ritek 4x DVD-R G04 media, RiData with White Inkjet Printable coating)

It looks like New Egg uses almost exactly the same codes as Ritek does on their boxes :D

Like the disks sold where? The one's I got at meritline can get a lot of fingerprints on them, until I put on my label, those White Inkjet Printable Ritek's should be nice, because no fingerprints should show up at all on those. Only thing is, I like buying mine in 25 packs, not 50 packs. I think the top one's dolphinius mentioned are the same one's that meritline has, but I may be mistaken.

do the printable ones have a thick protective layer ?
thing is I have some old silver cds and the silver layer is pretty bad, it starts loosing integrity after a couple years, not only that its easily scratched but some actually have some sort of spots on them that came from who knows where and its affecting performance

Thanks

I'd say it's pretty protective... but I still wouldn't go writing on the disc with a ball point pen or pencil!

 If it comes to dvd recordables for archiving then please stay away from Ritek (Note media with Ricoh adip uses a different dye and for that reason is much better. Ricoh media seems handle humidity quite well and most branded ricoh media come with excellent top layers for UV resistance.

Any method of ageing test or UV or humidity test I have seen for G04/G03 or R01/R02 showed a bad score for Ritek. Specially the silver silver media is very sensitive !!
