Anyone Use WordPerfect 11?

Postby craiger on Fri Oct 03, 2003 2:43 pm

Hi. Is WordPerfect 11 as good as Word XP? I saw Corel has a new WordPerfect Family Pack for $79 list you can get it cheaper at other web sites. It comes with WordPerfect 11. Thanks, Craig.

I've always loved WordPerfect.. I'm not a hardcore user of it, but Word just pains me to use... I've never gotten the hang of Word's "document as an object" thing, and like WordPerfects HTML-ish type of formatting (start tags, end tags, etc).

People have been ragging on it a lot since 5.1 (the last DOS version), but I've heard mostly positive things about 11 (they finally got it completely right) and have had nothing but good experiences with 11.

I like OpenOffice myself :)
But I would assume WordPerfect is better than MS Word, simply because it ISNT made by Microsoft. There, I got my daily Microsoft bashing done. I feel better now.

I think WP 11 will meet most anyone's word processing needs. The only reason to buy Word is if you have to exchange documents in Word format. You can't always count on saving a document in a different format from the native format of the word processor. Formats are tweaked frequently to remove compatibilty or so I'm told. You can buy an OEM version of WP 11 for under $20.00 if all you need is the word processor component of the suite. Quattro Pro, Corel's spreadsheet is VERY good but I must admit I'm beginning to like Excell better because of the way some things are done. Anyway, you can't go too far wrong by buying Word Perfect. Its a great word processor.

Wow, $20 for WP...not bad! And freakin' great for the people who love WP!
Soon to be proud user of Mandrake 10 (again!). SuSE 9 sucks!
