Anyone Use eBay?

Postby BuddhaTB on Fri Jan 17, 2003 1:40 am

Has anyone here used eBay to acquire some sort of computer hardware or software? If so, what's the best steal you've gotten from eBay? You can also mention other great deals you've won from eBay that aren't computer related too.

When you do it eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeBayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

eBay is great for finding bargains! I put together my new computer from parts that I bought on eBay. For the following three items, I only paid $403 (that's with shipping included):

Intel Pentium 4 2.4B GHz Processor 533FSB/512KB Cache
Intel D845PEBT2 Motherboard - Supports PC2700 DDR333 RAM and Serial ATA!
512MB Nanya PC2700 DDR333 64X64 RAM

I saved about $30 compared to Newegg.

Well, I don't have my own account. I have others buy me stuff if I find something really worthwhile. I've only gotten my Car CD Player (Pioneer DEH-840MP) off of ebay so far, but there have been many things that I wanted. I was going to go for this one since I need a working docking station, but for $102 it was just too much for me for only wanting the docking station...

2 year old 21 inch monitor in perfect condition for 350 delivered, using it now, had a while now.

Powerware 5115 1400va UPS $156 delivered, new in box with waranty.

Advancesys ultra wide SCSI card $56.

Brand new Thermo Quad Carbuerater, never had gas in it, special performance model $94. Haven't been made for over 20 years.

HP 990 printer new in box for $300 when you couldn't get one anywhere for less then 400.

A lot of other little things mostly computer or car related. Dutch auctions sometimes are very good deals. Sometimes you just get lucky becuase nobody else checks out the thing your bidding on, doesn't hurt to throw in that last minute snipe either. Bid what you feel it's worth to you and stick to it.

Just scored a wicked hot deal on eBay! ATI Radeon 8500 128MB DDR RAM, the RETAIL version! Built by ATI, not a Powered by ATI OEM card. Final price = $103

Beat that! :)

I've bought 1 item from Ebay:

Jimmy Buffett's "Rancho Deluxe" Soundtrack CD. $6.00US + shipping to Canada. Total was $9US. Not bad for a CD that has been out of print for nearly 5 years and is easily worth about $20 among the Parrot Heads who collect these things. I watched about 10 auctions of the disc (selling for between $15-$20 US) so I knew my prices before I bid.

Based upon that experience, I will buy from Ebay again.

Those Air Force Ones look like the ones I had when I was a kid.. minus the patent leather.

Does anyone actually play ball in those?

Thanks.
Of course I've heard of Air Force 1's. The only ones I really like are the Sheed's and the all white ones. I'm more of a Jordan and Air Max person, but that's a good price on the Air Force 1's.

Rasheed Wallace of the Portland Trailblazers wears the Air Force 1's shown below. He wears them as a tribute to all the players that came before him.

They're called Nike AF1 "Sheed". I think they are one of the best Air Force 1 colorways Nike came out with. It even has a silhouette of Rasheed Wallace shooting a jumpshot in the heel.
