Plextor's Japanese website has posted the following media list for the PX-708A:

Translated in English:

DVD+R: Mitsubishi Chemical, Ricoh, Taiyo Yuden

DVD-R: Mitsubishi Chemical, Taiyo Yuden, Hitachi-Maxell, TDK

DVD+RW: Mitsubishi Chemical, Ricoh

DVD-RW: Mitsubishi Chemical, TDK, JVC

However no speed rating is mentioned for the media.

I think it's a safe bet that Mitsubishi and Ricoh media will write at 8x, if the 4x media is used.

I believe that Ritek media is included in the Ricoh part, since every program identifies my Ritek media as Ricoh.

I bought some more Verbatim 4X +R media tonight.
Based on dvdrhelp.com they are made by Ricoh (like my Memorex), so
it might make sense to return them if the Memorex are capable of 8X, since I have plenty of those from a recent deal.
I have at least 30 days to make up my mind...

Yup, got you confused with VEFF, btw, that's the first time for me. I remember it happening to others before though.

Yup, I didn't know that dvdrhelp had a Media Database, it's nice to know though. Thank You VEFF. (Now I'm thanking the right person :wink:
