I too, have asked hoxland what advantage he would gain in this switch, but he has yet to make this clear. I thought that he was extremely happy with his NEC 2500.

well, come to figure out, even burning g04's in NEC at 1x, the samsung drive in xbox's still crap out, it plays for about 15 minutes and then stops

that leads me to believe the burn quality is low, cause half my games are burned on g04's from my plextor 708 that i used to have, and they play just fine

Download the patched firmware with DVRFlash from Flashman's archive: http://flashman.rpc1.org/Firmware/PIONE ... D/Patched/

You want "DVR-107Dv1.05_RPC-1+12xRip+8xDVD-R_WINDOWS_XP.zip"

Extract all files to a folder on your harddrive.

Read the readme.

Edit DVRFlash.pif, go to the Program tab and change the "G:" to whatever your drive's letter is. Be sure to capitalize. Hit OK.

Double click on DVRFlash.pif

Follow the on screen instructions.

I haven't done this myself, I just read the readme for you.

Hmmm, care to repeat what you said to me in response to my criticism of the NEC's media compatibility hoxlund?

"Oh, but I know everything and you know nowt". Hehe.

Yes, the NEC has known problems with Ritek media. Ironically, I have one here now and have to say that the 2500A is the best drive NEC have ever made. It seems to be marginally better than the Pioneer at writing bad media.

well for some reason xbox games burned on g04's in my older plextor worked in all my xbox's

and now, after i burned a few with my NEC with same media, they don't work in any of my xbox's, even burned at 1x
