Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking and network and direct attached storage solutions, today announced the TeraStation 7120r and TeraStation 7120r Enterprise, the first in a series of ultra high performance, 12-bay 2U rack mountable NAS and iSCSI storage servers packed with business-class features and advanced functionality. These newest network storage solutions make up the TeraStation 7000 series, the latest storage server family featuring powerful Intel® Xeon® quad core processors, upgradeable DDR3 RAM and configurations that include enterprise-class hard drives, ideal for businesses in need of a cost-effective, scalable RAID-based network storage solution for large networks and business critical applications.

The new TeraStation 7120r Enterprise TS-2RZHD offers 24 TB of high performance, scalable storage featuring the powerful Intel Xeon E3-1275 quad core processor, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and 12-2 TB enterprise-class hard drives. TeraStation 7120r Enterprise provides exceptional performance and runs many services simultaneously. The quad core processor enables the ability to focus on concurrent tasks with minimal performance degradation: experience maximum network throughput while replication and backup jobs run in the background. TeraStation 7120r Enterprise is packed with business-class features such as Active Directory support, disk quota support, share level replication, quad gigabit Ethernet ports supporting link aggregation up to 4 Gbps, hot-swap hard drives, iSCSI targeting and add-on PCI-Express card support with approved devices.

"With the entry of the new TeraStation 7000 series, Buffalo expand its high performance NAS lineup into the enterprise storage market," said Matt Dargis, senior director of sales at Buffalo Technology. "With scalable, enterprise-class network and iSCSI storage, our customers can depend on TeraStation 7120r Enterprise to fulfill today's storage needs while offering room for growth and support for future data storage demands."

Also announced today is the TeraStation 7120r TS-2RZSD, partially populated with four standard SATA hard drives and featuring the Intel Xeon E3-1225 quad core processor and 4 GB of upgradeable DDR3 RAM. Providing the same exceptional performance as its enterprise-class counterpart, TeraStation 7120r handles concurrent file transfers and everyday NAS functions with ease. With eight available bays for capacity expansion, TeraStation 7120r provides simple scalability for future demands and is packed with the same business-class features and functionality as the enterprise-class TS-2RZHD for today's storage needs.

The TeraStation 7000 series of ultra high performance storage servers features 12 hot-swap hard drive bays, support for RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/51/60/61 and future PCI-Express add-on accessories. Multiple capacities and drive configurations are available:

  • The TeraStation 7120r Enterprise will be available at an estimated street price of $8,999.99 for the 24 TB (TS-2RZH24T12D).
  • The TeraStation 7120r will be available at an estimated street price of $4,999.99 for the 8 TB (TS-2RZS08T04D) and $5,999.99 for the 12 TB (TS-2RZS12T04D).
