apacer_cfast_memory_card.pngWhen it comes to the ever-evolving core technologies of embedded systems, data transmission efficiency and speed are the main targets for improvement. Apacer, one of the world’s top ten PC SSD manufacturers, has introduced a new CFast memory card to support the SATA II 3Gb/s high-speed transmission mode. After winning customers’ favor, Apacer has now upgraded the capacity and speed of their industrial CFast memory cards. Additionally, these cards come in MLC solutions and support extended operating temperatures.Apacer’s latest industrial CFast card, features a peak reading speed of 160MB/s, breaking the speed limits of the CF cards currently used by industrial enterprises. This speed is three times faster than typical industrial CF cards, dramatically promotingfile transmission efficiency, making itone of the best storage solutions for high performance computing systems.

The CFast cards newly launched by Apacer are based on the V1.0 CFA standard. It combines the Form Factor of existing CompactFlash cards with the adoption of the 7pin SATA signal, 17pin power supply, and reserves additional space for special functions. Thus, the read/write speed is boosted up to 160/140 Mbytes per second, realizing the transmission efficiency of a SATA interface. Whether using industry-level, highly-reliable SLC chips or cost-effective MLC solutions, Apacer’s CFast cards always boast a resistance to extended operating temperatures (-40°C to 85°C), and are available in capacities of 64GB(SLC) and 128GB(MLC), satisfying the requirements of large capacity and high-efficiency embedded high-performance computing systems.

transcend_128gb_sdxc_card.pngTranscend Information, Inc. (Transcend), a worldwide leader in storage and multimedia products, today announced the company's first 128 GB SDXC memory card. Perfect for consumers who need vast storage space and high-speed performance, Transcend's new 128 GB Ultimate Series Class 10 SDXC cards boast an incredible amount of storage capacity for extended Full HD video recording, and help improve camera response with ultra fast transfer rates up to 22 MB/s.

To meet the increasing capacity demands of professional-quality photos and videos, Transcend's SDXC cards provide an enormous 128 GB of storage space. Each 128 GB SDXC card can store a full 32 hours of 1080p High-Definition footage (based on 1920 x 1080 9Mbps H.264 AVC compression) or over eight thousand high-megapixel RAW images (based on 14 MB total size), eliminating the need to pause and switch memory cards during recording sessions or photo shoots. Additionally, with the use of the exFAT file system that supports files larger than 4 GB, today's professional photographers and videographers can enjoy prolonged periods of burst-mode shooting and nonstop 1080p HD or even 3D video recording.

Optimized for use with today's high-performance equipment, Transcend's Ultimate 128 GB SDXC cards fully comply with the SD 3.0 Class 10 speed rating, which guarantees write speeds of at least 10 MB/s. However, thanks to their use of premium quality NAND flash chips, these cards can achieve extraordinarily fast read/write speeds of up to 22/16 MB per second. This not only allows users of digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLR) and HD camcorders to easily capture fast-moving subjects in stunning detail, but also greatly reduces wait time when copying, saving or uploading stored content.

Back in July, OCZ announced that it was working on its next generation SSD controller, the Indlinx Barefoot 3, and that it would begin sampling SSDs on this new controller in the August to September timeframe. Apparently, things are on schedule as Jess Luken, OCZ's Global Marketing Director, posted a picture of the Barefoot 3 on Twitter.

indilinx_barefoot3_controller.png

The Indilinx Barefoot 3 (IDX500M00-BC) is manufactured using TSMC's 65nm process technology. It also utilizes OCZ's internally designed Aragon 400 megahertz 32-bit processor which supports an SSD specific RISC instruction set. This allows most instructions and branches to be executed in a single cycle.

OCZ has not announced any Barefoot 3-based products yet. However, the company has said that we can "expect SSD sales related to Barefoot 3 in the third fiscal quarter", which should be sometime before the end of the year.
